I had the pleasure of knowing Oakey Dokey for 23 years. He was always trying to ply me with alcohol when we went out and succeeded on a couple of occasions. You lived in an apartment, with a terrace over Loch Fyne, looking over a river. We said, you lived in a flat, with a balcony, over a fish and chip shop, that looked over a car park. Loved our lunchtimes in Brodies with you, Chris and Sarah, where we put the world to rights and you told me and Sarah off for ordering chilli chips. “You don’t need them” you would tell us. I came to yours one Saturday in May 2008 and you made me breakfast, fresh fruit and a sausage baguette. We walked round Chelmsford as there was festival. Silly memories but ones I won’t forget. I’m just sad we never saw each other in the past two years. We were always all going to meet up but never got round to organising it. I read your text messages and can’t believe I won’t get anymore. Rest in peace David, taken far too soon. Sarah W xx You were a miserable old sod sometimes!
