So many good memories of Dave from our days at the South-East Essex Tech to Sunday morning football when you always claimed you were too short to help put the nets up. Memories of us seeing Rory Gallagher & Dave Edmunds Love Sculpture at the Marquee club, listening to "music in a dolls house" by Family round my mum's. So many Happy times. RIP Midfield Dynamo.

I had the pleasure of knowing Oakey Dokey for 23 years. He was always trying to ply me with alcohol when we went out and succeeded on a couple of occasions. You lived in an apartment, with a terrace over Loch Fyne, looking over a river. We said, you lived in a flat, with a balcony, over a fish and chip shop, that looked over a car park. Loved our lunchtimes in Brodies with you, Chris and Sarah, where we put the world to rights and you told me and Sarah off for ordering chilli chips. “You don’t need them” you would tell us. I came to yours one Saturday in May 2008 and you made me breakfast, fresh fruit and a sausage baguette. We walked round Chelmsford as there was festival. Silly memories but ones I won’t forget. I’m just sad we never saw each other in the past two years. We were always all going to meet up but never got round to organising it. I read your text messages and can’t believe I won’t get anymore. Back in 2015 when my car was stolen and I was stuck David came to the rescue and lent me his car for a few weeks. These few weeks turned into months and he refused to take his car back until I had got a new one. Maybe he had shares in lexus or maybe he was just the most generous gentleman in the world...... I loved our chats even if you were being a grumpy old git as you used to say. You spoke so fondly and were so proud to talk about your boys. You gave me my Noddy nickname which the team have now stuck with so thanks for that, a reminder of you ongoing though. Missed you when you retired but glad we kept in touch. Never did get to have that drink on your balcony to see the signets. Sleep well Mr O x

Oakey Dokey, FAV, grumpy old git….so many nicknames but none truly describe just how wonderful you were. Nearly 20 years of chats, laughs, stories, drinks, more drinks, dinners, oakey dokeys donkey sanctuary, pretending you didn’t like the Christmas decorations, gossip, boring you with updates of the “princesses”, mad malc and daves facts of the day, and just generally listening to you moaning. I will miss them all but mostly I will just miss you. I will always remember, lots of love FAV XXX

Big Dave, you employed me at the FSA in 2009 - we always did say you were responsible for hiring all the dodgy ones in our department. I think you and Suez were still merry from the work-do the night before. We spent most of the interview talking about Glastonbury and your son Alex. You were my first boss at the FSA and I will always remember you fondly, including keeping your eyebrow hairs in check over the many years. Sad I won’t see you again but no doubt you can still hear me thudding around down here. Rest in peace sir, one of the classic ‘old gits’. Love, Club Foot. xx

Regrettably l had only know David for the past 18 months. I will sadly miss our Friday afternoon drinks with Roc & Doris at " Dinkys Bar ". You have called Last Orders. Ill miss you mate. Billy.

My dearest VOD, the man with all the aliases. It hit me hard when our ways parted. We didn't get to catch up nearly often enough but I always looked forward to it, listening to your stories and feeling the love and pride when you spoke about your boys. Your spirit touched everyone, even in the briefest of encounter. You were always, and will forever remain, my favourite. Jenna x

My Darling Oakey Dokey, my work hubby, my grumpy old git. I cant believe there will never be a playmates afternoon-out ever again. Since naming you Oakey Dokey when I joined Property & Building Services 22 years ago, there was so much laughter (usually drunken and mainly at your expense). You took on the alter ego Davinia when I made you help with the filing, you picked me up off of a desk and then promptly dropped me on the floor in the middle of the office, you got so drunk when we hit the port on an afternoon out with the old Chuffer that I had to put you on your train and keep calling you until you got safely home and not forgetting…. how you championed all things “diversity” at the FSA/FCA - all wonderful memories that I thank you for and will cherish forever. I greeted you every morning at work with a kiss on top of the head and a “Good Morning Old Git” so now all I can say fondly is “Goodnight Old Git” Love You!! Narm x

David- we never got to play that round of golf we talked about a lot. I shall miss your many insightful criticisms of Man Utd. I never got to ask you what it was like to be a “tan leather jacket “ fashion icon.

I’ve known David ( or PUD as he signed himself ) for well over 50yrs We were in contact almost every week, and I will miss him every week in the future He once said ‘ when I come back I want to be on your planet ‘ .....i’ll save you a space mate ! SUT

My friend David David was the funniest, grumpiest man it was my great joy and priviledge to meet. I met David in the late 1980's and the meeting was a customer/provider relationship that grew to a lasting friendship. David was the boss and as my customer he was "King", however David always allowed others to join him on the throne, it was part of his DNA. I looked forward too and enjoyed every moment we shared together, on the phone, down the pub, on Whatsapp, sporting events, whenever ! wherever ! I will miss him immensely and never forget the many hilarious moments I and many others were able to share with him. Goodbye my friend , don't forget to save me the seat next you, they were always the rules. Listen carefully !! is that him giggling ?? Luv You, HRH ,, until we meet again.
